WEDNESDAY AUG 27
Hi everyone,
I was really honoured to be part of the handover ceremony on Sunday in
Beijing.
I’m a keen supporter of the Olympics coming to London;
it will
have an incredible impact on the East End of London and the British
will embrace the event and show how much passion they have for sport.
As I’ve said many times, we deserve a global event on this scale in our
country.
The Beijing Olympics were about the great sporting moments and the
Great Britain team exceeded all expectations.
To finish fourth in the
medal table and take home so many medals was amazing and they can all
be very proud of themselves.
This sort of success always encourages
kids to take up sport and do well and many are already getting ready
for 2012 and want to be involved in it.
I was also lucky to see the US
play Spain in the basketball final, I’m pleased for my friend Kobe who
wanted so much to win gold for his country.
I was impressed with Spain,
they never gave up, but the US probably deserved to win over the length
of the tournament.
I know a lot has been written about the England game last week but we
as a team are focused on the upcoming World Cup qualifying games and
performing well, we are confident we can get the right results against
Andorra and Croatia.
Due to the England game, I missed Bruce Arena’s
first match in charge of the Galaxy and unfortunately we lost 1-0.
We
are determined to get it right and we are working hard to turn things
around.
We are looking forward to our next game against the New England
Revolution on Saturday.
On another note, I know many of you would have been concerned to read
about a supposed car crash involving me and Victoria.
I want to assure
everyone there never was any crash at any time;
our car had been dented
many days before whilst vacant in a car park.
That’s all for now and thanks, as always, for your support.
Take care,
David

WEDNESDAY AUG 20
Hi everyone,
Well, we had a challenge at the Galaxy last week after Ruud Gullit and
Alexi Lalas’ departure, especially with the final SuperClasico match
against Chivas USA on Thursday, but Cobi Jones did a great job getting
the team focused on the game.
We managed a draw which gave us this
season’s SuperClasico;
the series of games against Chivas are always
tight, so beating them over the three games is a positive but we now
have to take that on and start to put together a winning run.
I’m pleased to see Bruce Arena named as coach, he has a wealth of
experience managing in the MLS and the US national squad;
I look
forward to working with him.
I have been training with the England squad this week before the
friendly against the Czech Republic tonight. The last time we played
them was ten years ago and only Rio Ferdinand and myself from the
current squad were playing in the team back then! They’ve always
produced great players though so it should be a good test before the
World Cup qualifiers start in September.
The England match is obviously played tonight so unfortunately I won’t
be back with the Galaxy in time for the match against Chicago Fire on
Thursday, but I’ll be keeping a close watch on what’s going on.
The
Galaxy then have the weekend off, so I’m going to fly to Beijing for
the handover ceremony as the Olympic torch is handed to London at the
end of the Games.
I’m honoured to be invited and, as someone who is passionate about the
Olympics coming to my home city, I’m incredibly proud to be part of the
ceremony on Sunday.
I’ll let you know how it goes next week.
That’s all for now.
Take care,
David

Hi everyone
I know a lot has been written about the club this week but as a team we
are determined to get back to winning ways and climb up the table.
I'm
sad to see Ruud and Alexi go, and I wish them all the best in the
future.
We had a break from playing at the weekend, which gave us a chance to
work with the coaching team on the training pitch.
During matches we
have shown the right attitude and character to come back when we’ve
gone a goal or two behind, but sometimes we’ve lost a little bit of
concentration late in the game or bit of composure, so having a week to
concentrate on the game has given us a good opportunity to work on some
tactics.
We are focused on the Chivas game tonight and it's important
we give our best for the fans and put in a good performance.
That’s all for now.

Hi everyone,
On Sunday the Galaxy played San Jose Earthquakes in Oakland.
Having won
our previous two games against them this season we were confident going
into the game, but found ourselves two goals down before we really got
going.
I was pleased with how we fought back though.
I think we showed
great character and I was happy with my assist for our first goal, so
it was very disappointing to concede right at the end of the match.
Congratulations to the Earthquakes though.
They kept going right until
the end and got their reward.
On the plus side, we were much better than our previous game against FC
Dallas and to fight back so well away from home shows we’re moving in
the right direction.
We’re up against Chivas USA next and of course the Home Depot Center is
home for both of us, so neither side has an advantage, but the Galaxy
will be going all out for the win.
I also attended the Teen Choice Awards 2008 on Sunday night in LA and I
was honoured to receive the award for Choice Male Athlete.
Having only
been in the States for just over a year, to be in the same category as
Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant was brilliant but to win was amazing.
Take care,
David
